Off to Iraq!

A week ago Saturday Ben left for Iraq.  He has spent the week in Kuwait doing some training then he is off to Iraq.  Here are a few pictures of us the morning he left.  We had to meet up with his unit on base at 1:30 am.  We hung around until about 5:00 am when they loaded them all up on buses to take them to the airforce base.  It was a long sad morning!
Kai was wide awake and really hyper about 3am!
Ben hanging out with buddy one last time before he leaves.
Ben tightening the straps on his gianormous gun!  Uggg!
Ben's unit getting ready for formation.

That must have been tough for you, Kami. I love the pictures of Ben and his little buddy though. I am sure I'll be seeing you in Utah over the next few months. (If Nalani decides to be a cool big sister and let her little sister hang out with her friends...remember!)

I am so sad that you had to say goodbye to your hubby! I really do not think that people think of the great sacrifices that are made by people in the armed forces and there families! You are a trooper and I know that time will fly while he is away! The on good thing is we get you here in UT. I guess that is the selfish way to look at it! Your family will be in our prayers! See you soon!

Come on down, Kami. Looking forward to spending time with you, but know how lonely it is without your guy!

Awe! What a hard day that must have been. I can only imagine how you must be feeling. I am glad you will be here in Utah to have the support of your family and friends here! I will keep Ben in my prayers :) Can't wait to see you and Kai!

I love that Kai is so awake and ready to go at 3:00 in the morning. I don't think he got that from you. You were never that perky and awake on the mission and you didn't even get up until 6:30:) Hee! Hee!
